As Wilmington wedding videographers, we’re always inspired by couples who want their wedding captured in a truly timeless way. Kylie and Adam’s day at Airlie Gardens was a perfect example — a celebration filled with heart, captured entirely on Super 8mm and 16mm Kodak Vision3 motion picture film. Between the beauty of the gardens and the texture of real film, their wedding felt like stepping into a romantic movie set in coastal North Carolina.
There’s something special about the way film captures a wedding day — the soft flicker, the texture, the way light blooms in each frame. Kylie and Adam’s wedding at Airlie Gardens reminded us exactly why we fell in love with shooting on real motion picture film.
Set beneath the sweeping oaks and draped Spanish moss, their celebration felt straight out of a classic film. Every detail — from the still morning air to the laughter that carried through the gardens — unfolded with an effortless kind of beauty that only film can truly preserve.
We filmed their day entirely on Kodak Vision3 motion picture film, using a Bolex Rex 3 (converted to Super 16mm) and a Canon 310XL Super 8. Each camera brought its own character: the Bolex delivering rich, cinematic tones and depth, while the Super 8 added a nostalgic softness that felt deeply personal and intimate.
As the evening light faded, we watched their first dance through the gentle flicker of the projector, and it was like stepping back in time. This is what we love most about film — it doesn’t just record a moment, it transforms it into something that feels eternal.
